Vice-President - Kim Faithfull-Wright

Kim the Vice-President of the Ballroom and Latin Society. Her main job is to help the President with any tasks that need doing. She also organises medal tests for anyone who wishes to take them before moving up in their classes. As well as this she helps arrange private lessons for members of the team and provides support to all committee members who need it. Kim has been dancing since she was 14 but only started Ballroom and Latin last year when she started university. Kim loves dancing and her favourite dance is the Jive because of its fast pace and fun!

Secretary - Christine Philpot

Secretary - Christine Philpot

My Name is Christine and I know it sounds cheesy but Strictly Come Dancing inspired me to dance. I had been dancing for four years before I came to Birmingham at a social level and ever since I joined the ballroom society last year I have progressed and am now dancing at gold level. I dance with the equally, if not more amazing, Sarah Connolly and we are looking forward to competing again this year in novice! Ballroom means more to me than anything else I do and the people are wonderful and true friends to me. I cannot imagine my life without it! My favourite dances are Jive, Waltz and Foxtrot (which is apparently a very controversial thing to say) as it just feels so elegant and looks so beautiful! I am the Secretary which means I basically answer all of your questions and emails, arrange room bookings, sort out memberships and do lots of organising. I love doing it and I love everybody on our committee and in the society and look forward to meeting you all and watching you all enjoy the wonder that is Ballroom dancing.

Treasurer - Aemilia Teoh Su Yin

Treasurer - Aemilia Teoh Su Yin

Aemilia started to do Ballroom and Latin in her first year at university. She absolutely loves dancing and thinks the people on the team are simply amazing. Aemilia found it difficult to choose her favourite style of dance, but when forced to, she chose the Jive and Cha-Cha, she finds Latin dancing exquisite! Aemilia currently holds the position of Treasurer, so please find her if you have any fee/payment/ membership related issues and also if you're lost with dance steps as she promises to do her best and help you in any way she can! Aemilia has been dancing since she was three-years-old back at home in Malaysia, and has done Ballet for 14 years, and dabbled a bit in Hip Hop. Aemilia has always loved dancing and will always loved it. It has become a part of who she is and Aemilia's motto is: "Let life be a dance, and choose the kind of dance you want to live for today."

Publicity Officer - Zuzanna Oltarzewska

Hi, I'm Zuzanna, a second year Human Biology student. I have been dancing classical Ballet since I was six-years-old. When I came to uni, I decided to try something different…which was nothing else but Ballroom and Latin! I was tempted by passionate Rumba and energetic Cha-Cha-Cha, which are my favourite dances. I joined this wonderful society last year and loved it from the very first moment I passed through the door of the Avon Room on Monday evening, for my first Beginners’ Class. Atmosphere, people, teachers…everything made a huge impression on me. I enjoyed the society so much that I started to think about being a committee member for the 2011/2012 season and a few months later I was elected Publicity Officer, which is all about promoting our fabulous society and encouraging as many new members as possible to make it bigger and bigger!

Hi, I am Matthew Meddings. I am the Community Officer and my role is to encourage the wider community, such as schools and the other Birmingham universities to participate in what is such a wonderful activity. I have been doing Ballroom and Latin dancing now for just over a year, with my favourite dance having to be the Quickstep. I love Ballroom manly due to the many brilliant people I get to meet and have a dance with.

Web Content Officer - Amy Cory

Web Content Officer - Amy Cory

Amy started dancing in her first year as a student at the University of Leicester after being enchanted by the glitz, glamour and pretty dresses on Strictly Come Dancing. She instantly fell in love with ballroom and has been dancing ever since. Whilst at Leicester, she was also heavily involved with the running of the team and society as Social Secretary, Publicity Officer, Personal Assistant and Offbeat Captain. She joined the University of Birmingham's dancesport team in 2011 as an ex-student and was a proud member of the winning Offbeat team at IVDC. Amy's favourite dance is the Rumba.
